Dear Scientist,
The CAEN Model NV8020 is a 19" X 7U 84TE mixed VME NIM crate equipped
with a 1U common fan unit.
The VME section features 6 slots suitable for 6Ux160mm boards, with
VME64 compliant backplane. The section is powered by universal AC input
switching Power Supply (6U 8TE). The Power distribution is 50A @+5V,
1.5A @-12V, 7.5A @+12V.
The NIM section consists of 7 NIM slots (5 free) provided with plugable
150W power supply. On the front panel the status of power supply is
indicated by green/red LED.

The DT5740 is a 32 Channel 12 bit 65 MS/s Desktop Waveform
Digitizer with 2 Vpp dynamic range on single ended ERNI SMC. input
connectors. 16 channels are also available on MCX coaxial connectors.
The DC offset adjustment (range ± 1V) on each channel by 16bit DACs
allows a right sampling of a bipolar (Vin=± 1V) up to a full positive
(Vin= 0 ÷ +2V) or negative (Vin= 0 ÷ -2V) analog input swing without
losing dynamic resolution.
The module features a front panel clock In and a PLL for clock synthesis
from internal/external references. The data stream is continuously
written in a circular memory buffer. When the trigger occurs, the FPGA
writes further N samples for the post trigger and freezes the buffer
that can be read via USB or optical link. The acquisition can continue
without dead time in a new buffer.
Each channel has a SRAM memory buffer (192 kSamples/ch) divided in
buffers of programmable size (1 - 1024). The readout (from USB or
Optical link) of a frozen buffer is independent from the write
operations in the active circular buffer (ADC data storage).
Zero suppression and data reduction algorithms allow substantial savings
in data amount readout and processing, rejecting samples smaller than
programmable thresholds.
Mod. DT5740 supports multi-board synchronization allowing all ADCs to be
synchronized to a common clock source and ensuring Trigger time stamps
alignment. When synchronized, all data will be aligned and coherent
across multiple DT5740 boards.
The trigger signal can be provided via the front panel input as well as
via the software, but it can also be generated internally with threshold
auto-trigger capability.
DT5740 houses USB 2.0 and optical link interfaces. USB 2.0 allows data
transfers up to 30 MB/s. The Optical Link supports transfer rate of 80
MB/s, and offer daisy-chain capability. Therefore it is possible to
connect up to 8/32 ADC modules to a single Optical Link Controller (Mod.
A2818/A3818).

The V6533 is a 1-unit wide VME 6U module housing 6 High Voltage
Power Supply Channels (4KV, 3mA). The board is available with either
positive or negative output polarity; mixed version with 3 positive and
3 negative channels is also available. The channels share a common
floating return, which allows on-detector grounding reducing the noise
level. HV outputs are delivered through SHV connectors.
The HV output RAMP-UP and RAMP-DOWN rates may be selected independently
for each channel in the 1÷ 500 V/s range with 1 V/s steps.
Safety features include:
• OVERVOLTAGE and UNDERVOLTAGE warning when the output voltage differs
from the programmed value
• Programmable via trimmer HVMAX hardware protection limit
• OVERCURRENT detection: if a channel tries to draw a current larger
than its programmed limit, it enters TRIP status, keeping the maximum
allowed value for a programmable time (TRIP), before being switched off.
• Channels can be enabled or disabled through the Interlock logic.
The modules fit into both VME/VME64 standard and V430 crates. Functional
parameters can be programmed and monitored via VMEBus.
